Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^

Did you guys see the men's Canadian hockey team watching the women's game? When Canada won gold (wh00), they were so stone-faced LOL. YEAH YOU GUYS REALLY CAN'T SCREW UP NOW, you have to at least live up to the ladiiiiez.

Also, why is the Vancouver Olympics so fucking sad. Like... 1 Olympian died, and another Olympian had to deal with her mom's death during the Olympics. ): But she ended up getting bronze, so I am happy for her, the poor thing.

Also, I am hoping that Korea rake in a lot of medals tomorrow from speed skating heehee. :>

I have some Canadian friends up in Canada who were freaking out over the loss in hockey. I found it rather amusing that the Canadians got beat in their own sport. Good thing for the womens team though. Gotta bring back at least one medal. : )

Eee, I'm not Korean one bit but I absolutely adored Kim Yuna! She's so pretty and I'm glad she brought home a gold cause she totally deserved that. (Though imo..the Japanese who took 4th should have had 3rd since the Canadian had some mistakes in hers...)

Don't forget the Dutch speed skater Sven Kramer that was disqualified from Gold because he changed track at the wrong time! Well, he's a bit of a pompous jerk, but that still sucks that his coach told him to change lanes at the wrong time, AND he was disqualified after breaking the world record for 10,000 meter speed skating.

It's not anything death related, but that was aweful to watch him get disqualified.

Perhaps it was all cursed from the beginning when the Olympic Torch didn't go up all the way? I guess it was bad Olympic juju.

It was fantastic to watch the Joannie Rochette is a trooper. She deserved every bit of that medal. I hope Canada's proud of her
